Today there are more and more specialty services. You can pay money to have someone do anything for you from putting up your Christmas lights, to mowing your lawn, or instructing you how to lose weight. For this next year, examine the conveniences that you are paying for and try to find just one expense that you can rid yourself of.
Many times, a few extra minutes of our time and perhaps a few dollars in supplies can save us quite a bit of money overall. I am not asking you to cancel the pool guy, the landscaper, and your tailor all at the same time–just pick one. Read below to get some ideas for some of the things you can start doing by yourself.
Car wash: This may not be as fun while it is cold outside and maybe the thought of washing your car yourself in the winter is ridiculous to most of you. But, I live in Arizona, so even a December outdoor car-washing is feasible. Either way, when it is warm enough, enlist someone else’s help and scrub away. This isone chore that kids might actually enjoy doing.
Nails: If you are use to getting your every-other-week manicure, consider spending a few dollars on some nice polish and doing your nails yourself. Think of the money you?d save: $50 a month times 12 months is $600 in a year!
Landscape your yard: Either cut your lawn yourself or downgrade from a professional landscape gardener to a neighborhood teenager who can do the job for much less.
Make dinner: This is an obvious one because we are all known to pay for someone else to make a substandard or expensive meal for our family. A little meal planning will keep you from running to the drive-thru at dinnertime.
Iron your own clothes: Instead of sending clothes that need to be ironed out with the dry-cleaning, do it yourself. If you are not a fan of ironing, make sure to generally buy clothes that don’t need to be ironed, such as wrinkle-free dress shirts.
Clean your pool: Check out this article for how to clean your pool yourself:
