Do Women Read Too Much Into Things?

Most books and therapists will state that women are much more concerned with emotional ties and bonds than men. It is more important for women to have an emotional connection with their mate than it is for men to have a special bond with their mate.

One day a friend and I were talking and she expressed how she felt that her and her mate were not as connected as they once were. She felt that he was more distracted and that their bond had lessened. She had worried over the subject for a few days until she finally decided to confront him.

When she discussed her concerns with him he was completely shocked. He had not noticed anything and he had felt that their relationship was strong as ever. Her days of worrying had been for nothing.

So do women look too deep into things? Do we read too much into every little look, comment, or silent moment? Do we worry when there is no need?

Perhaps some do. Women are much more conscious of the emotional ties that create a relationship. They are more sensitive to the moments when things do not seem to be as intense or passionate.

This can be a good and a bad characteristic to have. Women can pick up on distant feelings and hopefully work through them before things get out of hand. However they can also jump to conclusions when there is no need.

In a relationship things cannot remain passionate and intense all of the time. Life’s worries and tiredness come into play and the efforts lessen with stress. However the moments should not remain dull either.

Therefore before jumping in and hiring a counselor or thinking that your marriage is over, give your mate a break and see if things are not back to normal in a day or so. He likely does not even realize that anything is different.
