Do You Believe Jessica is a Jinx?

I think Jessica Simpson should stay out of the state of Texas for a while… and that goes double for Tony Romo.

I have no idea where the Dallas Cowboys star quarterback is this morning, but wherever he is he sure isn’t celebrating—not after losing 21-17 to the New York Giants in a key playoff game yesterday.

If you watched even a small portion of the game then you know Romo has been catching heat for his relationship with the buxom blonde singer almost since their first date back in November. Things got even more intense when Dallas lost to the Philadelphia Eagles last month. During that game Simpson was seen cheering her man from a luxury skybox like a high school pom pom girl. Diehard Dallas fans were outraged and blamed the former reality TV star for distracting their standout quarterback.

Then, in a move that has caused the most criticism to date, Romo jetted off to Mexico last week with Simpson and her parents just days before the Cowboys went head-to-head with the Giants for a chance to compete for the NFC Championship.

Did I mention Romo’s team lost?

“Jessica Jinx” screamed the headline of today’s New York Post.

“Cancungate” blasted the Dallas paper.

Hmm… they might be on to something, though after Dallas’ loss to Philadelphia Simpson stopped coming to Romo’s games.

In fact, Simpson’s rep went as far as giving a quote to the New York Post on Friday announcing that her client would announced NOT be attending Sunday’s playoff game. “She’ll be watching [on TV] and cheering,” the singer’s rep told the paper.

Well, I watched part of the game (I live near Green Bay after all) and I can tell you that the former Mrs. Nick Lachey had very little to cheer about last night.

After the game, Romo had little (or no) choice but to address the controversy.

Asked if he was worried about how fans would be react to his romantic trip and subsequent playoff loss, Romo insisted, “I’m comfortable in my own skin . . . and strong enough in my faith.”

The 27-year-old Pro Bowler further tried to defend his actions by adding, “I thought I was making a good decision by not going to Vegas and drinking for two or three days.”

Huh?

Frankly, I really don’t care what Tony Romo does in his spare time, but I will say this—-the Green Bay Packers had just as much time off between games as Romo and crew, but you didn’t see Brett Favre jetting off to Mexico or Las Vegas during his time off. Perhaps, that’s why Green Bay will be hosting the New York Giants next week as they continue their march to the Super Bowl.

So, do you think Jessica Simpson is the reason Romo dropped the ball?
