I know this doesn’t seem like a very serious blog this morning…and it’s not really. Unless, of course, you’re wrestling with caffeine addiction or your physician has told you to cut down or cut back on coffee or tea. But, it dawned on me that I go through an awful lot of coffee and tea since I have been working from home and I’m wondering if I don’t consume quite a bit more since the kitchen is so close and I do not really have to share with anyone…
Consuming the caffeinated beverage while I work is NOT a recent development. While I didn’t actually start drinking coffee until I turned 30—I did drink plenty of tea on the job for the first decade of my adult working life. For the last decade, it’s been alternating quantities of coffee and tea. The difference, I think, is that when I’m working from my home office, I can make an entire pot of fresh-brewed, high quality coffee, and I do not have to share it with anyone else! It’s all there for me to consume at will and it’s so easy to just get up to stretch my legs and find my way into the kitchen to top of my cup of java. Ease is definitely contributing to my increased consumption.
I’m wondering if I’m alone. Perhaps some of you actually drink less coffee or tea now that you are working from home and you have healthier choices? I am not sure why I don’t go for the milk or the juice when it’s also readily-available—far more so than it is/was when I am working from someone else’s office. How about you—do you find yourself drinking more coffee or tea when you’re running your home business from your home?
