Now that I have been at this home business “scene” for a couple years, there are definitely times when I feel like I am getting in a groove. There are other times, however, when I think of how I might do things differently if I were to get the opportunity to go back and start all over again…
Perhaps it is human nature to second-guess oneself; or perhaps it is just that hindsight is twenty/twenty. I can look back over the months and years and see how I might have done things differently or how I might have gone at my business differently if I had the chance. I do NOT have my home business where I want it to be yet. My goal is to get all of my work and clients to a place where they are not at all dependent on geography—as in, I don’t have to actually go into a building and meet with people or do work with local folks on a regular business. This is because once my children are all grown up, I would like to be able to move or travel anywhere and still be able to work. I am not there yet and I cannot help but wonder if I had done things differently in the beginning, I might be closer to my goals now?
I think too much looking back and longing to start over can be a bad thing and detract from taking care of business today—but a little contemplation over how I might do things differently can help me shape the choices I make in the future. Who knows? Maybe it wouldn’t have made any difference if I had done things differently, but it certainly seems to be human nature for me to ponder what my business could be like if I were to start all over.
