One of the perks of working from the home business that many of us take advantage of is that we do not have to stay tied down to a desk or office. The home business tends to lend itself to more flexibility and motion. This being said, I know there are also plenty of us who are not getting out as much as we would like, or as much as we could…
I will be the first to share my confession—when I first started my home business, I went out and about a great deal (maybe too much). I seemed to have the flexibility then when I was scrambling for work and clients to go to coffee shops and books stores and have more networking lunches with old colleagues and friends. Now that I have so much work to do, I tend to get out and about much less. I feel more tied to the “home” in my home business than I would really like to!
As home business owners, we do have the power to set our schedules and decide our work environment to a certain extent. What can you do to get out and about more and spend less time chained to a desk or a certain room? I know that if I budget it and purchase a laptop computer, I will be able to get out and about more, but I also know that it is largely a matter of time management and choice. If getting out and about will really help me stay energized and come up with fresh ideas, then I do need to break outside my comfort zone. I could also attend more networking events and make “movement” more of a priority in my home business operations. What can you do for your business to get out and about more?
