Do You Want Your Presidential Fitness Award?

Did you ever try to get your Presidential Physical Fitness Award when you were in school? I vaguely remember trying to do it when I was in elementary school. There was one day in the gym where we had to do sit-ups and it was actually a competition, you had to keep going and going and going. I hated sit-ups, even if I was good at them. Anyway, I zoned out in the middle of the sit-ups and when I zoned back in, I’d done over a 100 and passed that portion of the physical. I don’t think I could do that part so easy now.

But hey, even if you didn’t get a shot at the award before, they are offering it again. This time around, you can get your achievement award as an adult. Now bad, eh? You can head over to the website and download the forms and get started. All you have to do is be in good health and over the age of 18.

Testing

The test is broken into three parts: flexibility, aerobic fitness and muscle strength. While the Presidential Physical Fitness test was popular with Baby Boomers when they were younger, this adult version is directed at them once again. Now you won’t actually get a certificate in the mail (although you could probably create one on Microsoft Word, but check out computers blog for ideas on that), you will see where you rank against other similarly aged adults who completed the test and filled out the forms.

You’ll be asked for your height, your weight and your BMI. You’ll be doing things like walking a mile, running a mile, push-ups, sit and reach and oh yes, my favorite – the sit up. There’s a lot of interesting information on the site, be sure to check it out.
