Dodge Durango

When my husband and I bought an SUV over a year ago, I never thought that I would drive it. I was happy in my little mid-size sedan, but family called for more room. Once I was used to driving the SUV it was okay, but just recently the engine decided to give out — that’s what we get for buying a used vehicle with almost 200,000 miles on it. Anyway, I digress. I am in no way an expert on any type of vehicle, but we recently purchased a used 2002 Dodge Durango SLT and I love it!

My husband had been searching the car dealer’s website and had already spotted the Durango, but we were open to other vehicles. When we got to the lot and saw the Durango on the lot, it almost spoke to us. So we talked to one of the salesmen and got the keys. The first thing we noticed was the third row seating. Yay! We had been talking about taking road trips with another couple and their son and this would be the perfect vehicle for that. Upon climbing into the passenger seat, I noticed that the Durango sat up a little higher than our other SUV, which I liked. We decided that we wanted to take it for a test drive, so the salesman moved some of the other cars out of the way and hopped in the backseat.

My husband drove so that I could check out all of the cool gadgets. Of course I played with the radio first and checked out the sound system. I don’t know anything technical about sound systems but the music sounded good to me! Then I noticed that above the windshield that there was a digital display of the temperature and direction. I had always wanted that in my vehicle! There were several buttons on that display which allowed you to see other information: how many miles left on your tank of gas, how many miles you are getting per gallon, how many miles you have gone on your trip, and a trip clock. Wow! Plus, it had rear temperature controls on it which just make riding more comfortable for everyone. Put all of that together with a smooth ride and you’ve got a sale! So we purchased our 2002 Dodge Durango SLT with a 4.7-liter V8 engine and four-wheel drive. Ah! It feels good just saying it…or writing it as the case is.

If you are looking into buying a new or used SUV, I highly recommend the Dodge Durango. For more information, visit Dodge.com. Oh, and if you live in or around Frederick, Maryland, you might want to consider Easterns Auto Mall on Urbana Pike (355). Talk to Keith and tell him that the Egans sent you!

On a more personal note: I travel to Virginia Beach from Frederick quite frequently, about 500 miles round-trip, and gas prices are so high. It is nice to know that instead of it taking an entire tank of gas to reach my destination, I can now get there with over a quarter of a tank left. Now how’s THAT for gas mileage?
