Does Your Busines Have a Facebook Page?

Recently, I watched a documentary on Facebook. The documentary stated that one in 12 people in the world has a Facebook account. It also stated that of those who decide to deactivate their Facebook account over half will reactivate it within a six month time frame. Most people I know have a Facebook account. Most bloggers I know have a separate Facebook account for their blogs. In fact, most big businesses now have Facebook accounts. Many businesses are giving up on high priced websites for Facebook accounts. Any way you slice it, Facebook reaches millions of people daily and can be one of the best ways to advertise your business.

What can Facebook do for your business?

When you log on Facebook you are immediately brought to you homepage which is constantly being updated with new status updates. Anyone you friended or any business or organization you “liked” will show up on your homepage. It is this aspect that can keep your business on the minds of your customers and potential customers. You need to find the balance between updating your status enough to be remembered but not too much that your business feels more like spam than friendly. You want to encourage others to “like” your page and not “dislike” it due to constant updates that are boring and annoying.

Simple Ways to Increase Your “Likes”:

Recruit your friends: It only takes a few minutes to “like” a page. Most people are willing to “like” a page for a friend. Simply put in your personal Facebook account status that you are looking for “likes” and watch your friends and family support you.

Have a Giveaway: Host a giveaway for Facebook fans only. Advertise this giveaway on your personal Facebook status and encourage your friends to do the same. In fact, you can give your friends extra entries for putting it up in their status updates. Advertise this on your website, Twitter, and any other social networking site you belong to.

Coupons: Offer coupons exclusive to your Facebook fans. You could offer a different coupon every Friday so keep the interest and momentum. Soon you will find growth because others want to be involved with your Coupon Fridays or whatever you come up with.

Status Updates that require responses: Your status updates do not always have to be about a special offer or a means to promote yourself. Ask questions. Get to know your fans. Use updates that encourage a response from your fans. You can put up a simple survey or simply ask what everyone is doing for the weekend.
