Dog Beds

Do you have a special dog in your life? We do and I love to make sure she is comfortable. Usually Clementine will just sleep in my bed, she only weighs ten pounds so it’s not like I even notice but I still wanted her to have a bed of her own. I also wanted to have a bed in each room so that she would have somewhere soft to lie when all the couches and chairs were occupied. However I did not want to pay a fortune for dog beds so off to the craft room I went.

This was one of the quickest things to make, especially since Clementine is so small. I had some fleece left from another project and that was what I used.

I cut two squares from two different kinds of fleece. I used white fleece on the inside and the pink on the outside. All you have to do is sew around, clip the corners and turn it inside out. I had some throw pillows that were on their last legs so I used the stuffing to add a little more padding, sewed the opening closed and that’s it.

Fleece works great for Clementine because she is so little. If you have a bigger dog who is a little bit rougher on their dog beds you could use flannel, corduroy or even denim. It’s a great way to use old pants, just cut off the legs, open the seam and sew them together. Denim is very durable and washes up well. Old flannel shirts can be repurposed the same way. Your doggie gets a new bed and you keep some shirts from the landfill, it’s a win for everyone.

I think I may have to make a few of these for my sister’s dog, she’s not allowed to sleep with her humans.
