Even though school supplies are starting to crop up all over the place, doesn’t mean that summer is over. In fact for most, there is still well over a month left of the hot, sticky weather. Photography opportunities in the summer months are plentiful, with kids home, vacations and outdoor activities. And then there is the gorgeous scenery. So what have you forgotten to snap a photo of this summer?
Ice Cream Man, Cones and Popsicles
We don’t typically purchase from the ice cream man very often with my frugal lifestyle, but once in awhile we relent and allow the children to have a treat from the guy in the truck. Snap a shot of your child enjoying their favorite treat, or perhaps even purchasing the treat from the ice cream vendor.
Pools and Sprinklers
Water pictures are so much fun. Learning to use your camera properly, you can even capture the water as it splashes in a child’s face. One of my favorite photographs from a couple of years ago is pictured on the right. I love the summer feel of the photograph, the vivid colors and that water looks pretty splashable!
Grass
The grass is always greener in the summer. Have your child lay down in the grass, and avoiding shadows, use the grass as a background for a photograph. Or place them in the grass and then move in for an up close and personal shot.
Sky
You can have the same results with the sky, as you can the grass. Lie down on the ground and aim upwards toward your child. Have their head block the sun or rotate around until you cannot see the sun anymore. The blue background has a beautiful look, especially when it is filled with white fluffy clouds.
Trees
Another great location for summer photographs is up in a tree. You don’t even have to climb the whole tree and it doesn’t have to be in your backyard. Often parks have trees that would be perfect. What you are looking for, is the ability for your child to be on or between branches or even trunks with the greenery showing.
What other great summer time pictures can you think of?
