Doing Disney

Last weekend our neighbors piled into their van and drove more than 80 miles to see Disney on Ice: Treasure Trove. The live ice-skating extravaganza features costumed characters from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, and Tangled.

I know this without having to shell out $50 a ticket to see the performance myself, because my scrapbook fiend neighbor snapped more than 100 photos of the show and has about half of them already displayed in a Disney-themed memory album.

Personally, I found her project to be quite fascinating. If you’ve ever been on a trip to a Disney theme park and wondered what to do with leftover embellishments you used to decorate your vacation scrapbook, my neighbor can give you some great ideas.

For starters, you’ll want to get your hands on a bunch of Disney printables. Fortunately, the Internet is loaded with Disney-themed clip art, paper, frames, and other scrapbook design elements. What’s more, you won’t be stuck printing out just Mickey, Minnie and Donald. There are a number of websites that feature Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Jasmine, Aladdin, The Lion King, Little Einsteins, Lilo and Stitch, Toy Story, Tinkerbell, Wall-E, and tons of other popular Disney characters.

Once you collect the Disney printouts you can incorporate them into your scrapbooking layouts. For example, my neighbor used a Disney Princess frame for a photo she took of Cinderella skating near her daughter’s seat. She also placed some Tinkerbell clipart on a page that featured photos of Peter Pan dueling it out with Captain Hook on the ice. My favorite layout includes an image of Mulan (that my neighbor’s young daughter colored from a free online printable) placed in the middle of the page with photos taken at Treasure Trove surrounding it.

Have you ever made a Disney-themed scrapbook?
