Some items in the dollar store are better than others. If you want to get the best value for your dollar without getting taken by inferior or dangerous products then keep reading. I’ve put together some of the best dollar store deals that I have seen consistently in various dollar stores.
Sunday Newspaper
If your dollar store sells the Sunday newspaper for a dollar, then this is a great deal. Our normal Sunday paper costs $1.75 elsewhere. Only spending $1 means that I can stock up on the Sunday insert coupons.
School Supplies
Looseleaf paper, notebooks, number 2 pencils and more are cheap and easy to be had at a dollar store. With the exception of ridiculously low back to school deals in other stores once a year (such as 25 cent packs of name brand crayons), you’ll do much better when you choose a dollar store for your school supplies instead of an office supply or other regular retail store.
Organizers
If you need to get a shelf or two organized, then look to your favorite dollar store. There are plenty of buckets, bins, hangers and baskets to be had. You can get a lot of these things for very little money. The only exception I have found is for laundry baskets or bins that are required to hold a heavy load. They might not hold up as well as some studier name brand products. if you are just organizing a closet or shelf, these products will work well.
Washcloths and Dishtowels
I use washcloths and dishtowels in place of paper products for everything from homemade baby wipes to cleaning the carpet. I have found that I can get a ton of inexpensive washcloths and dishtowels that do these jobs well and save money. I won’t get a plus luxury bath washcloth, of course, but that isn’t what I need for cleaning.
