So what can you buy at the Dollar Store with coupons?
Plenty.
Family Dollar and Dollar General, two large dollar store chains take coupons. They print coupons in their flyers. They encourage you to use coupons. Now, your mileage may vary on that – you may find individual managers who give you a hard time. So it pays to ask, especially on other chains or local dollar stores.
My experience at Family Dollar and Dollar General here in Florida is that they do accept – and promote – coupons. Sometimes your run into the silly “one per purchase” cashier who thinks you should buy 10 bottles of shampoo but only submit one coupon, or ring it all up ten times. Usually, a gentle persuasion to see if it beeps through and explanation that each item IS a purchase is enough. Failing that, you can invite them to ring ten bottles of shampoo ten separate times.
They usually just put it through.
It’s worth it to shop at these stores regularly with your coupons. They often buy up in bulk the cleaning and health and beauty items that don’t fare so well in major stores. These are national brands, but they might be scents that did not do so well, or different styles of bottles or pumps. Yet, the coupons are good for them. So, you can do well.
For example, at Family Dollar, I recently purchased a bottle of Clorox
Greenworks dilutable cleaner for a reduced price of $1.80. This is way
cheaper than the sales price in other stores. I used a $1 coupon off
ANY Clorox Greenworks product from the Save the Planet booklet I got at Publix. Total cost – 80 cents. I did the same thing for Softsoap, Dawn Dish Detergent, and Secret Deodorant. In ten minutes, I bought $11.98 worth of products, including tax, for $4.98.
Make a weekly trip to your local dollar store that accepts coupons, and
bring the high value savings from sunday inserts, booklets, and printables. YOu may also find tear pads in their aisles. Shop their
clearance sales, specials, and look for big savings. No rebates, no register rewards, no special cards – just a cheap price. If you do this regularly, you can stockpile cleaning supplies and non perishables at very cheap prices.
