Well, this is just a fantastic idea if you ask me!
Terry Dunkle, founder and CEO of Diet Power, Inc. has launched www.DonateYourCalories.com. This website will take into consideration your age, height, current weight, goal weight and target date and tell you how much money you will save every month by cutting your calories to reach your goal.
Of course, the website is DonateYourCalories.com, not SaveYourCalories.com. Rather than suggesting that you save that money for Mexican vacation, they suggest a charity that will feed hungry children. The whole idea is to use the money you would spend to overeat on supporting children who aren’t eating enough. A fine and honorable idea if you ask me. Now if you can’t get motivated by making yourself healthier then perhaps the thought of saving starving children will motivate you to stick to a diet.
I’m pregnant so my numbers were a bit skewed but according to the program on the website, if I started working on my weight loss goals today, I could feed about six children a month with my extra calories. Just the thought of it can really put things into perspective.
How many starving children could you save?
It may be worth taking a look for yourself.
According to Dunkle, “Donate Your Calories’ is our way of helping to erase one of today’s greatest ironies. While millions are going to bed hungry every night, including many in our own country, we’re becoming a nation that’s too fat for its own good.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control over 100,000 people die every year from weight related illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and stroke. The American people are literally eating themselves to death!
Dunkle insists that donating your calories will “improve your health, save hungry children, cut your insurance premiums and build international goodwill” without your having to spend any extra money whatsoever. The money you donate is money not spent on overeating.
This is a brilliant marketing move for Dunkle’s business. Diet Power, Inc. provides weight loss and nutrition coaching software. Regardless of any possible ulterior motives, this is a brilliant idea for people who are looking for some socially responsible motivation to stick with their diet.
