Double Strollers

When we first had an infant and a toddler at the same time I needed a double stroller. I bought a used Graco DuoGlider off Craig’s List. It served our needs, but I hated that stroller with a fiery passion. When Gemini went to another home I sold the stroller to Once Upon a Child.

Almost a year after Pumpkin joined our family Jessie came to live with us too. I knew Jessie was coming so I had time to prepare for having two babies under a year old. I needed a new double stroller. I researched online and test drove strollers in stores. I had my heart set on the Bumbleride twin. I told my sister about the stroller and she told me that all her friends hated side-by-side strollers and I’d find it very hard to maneuver. Instead of taking the advice with a grain and remembering that her youngest was ten, I took her advice. We ended up getting the Graco Quattro Tour Duo. The Quattro Tour was a nicer stroller than the DuoGlider, but it was still a heavy and unwieldy tandem stroller. I hated it.

Giggles, Jessie, and I went home to California in March 2010 for my sister’s 50th birthday. My parents’ house is in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. The walk to coffee and home is very steep. Dad, Mom, and I took turns pushing the stroller up the hill. My parents decided that I needed a better stroller. Mom got us an Instep Safari twin. It was wonderful and handled like a dream. It was comfortable for Pumpkin and Jessie at the zoo last April and Jessie and E this past October.

There’s one big problem with the side-by-side Instep. Please read my next blog on double strollers to find out what it is.
