Are you over 40? If so, Dove may be looking for you as a Pro•age model. No, you don’t have to be exceptionally beautiful. They’re looking for women that reflect their customer base – real women. The entry needs to have an essay attached – the essay is 90% of the judging. 200 words or less on “What Beauty after Forty Means”, with a specific emphasis on “What special strengths and qualities do Pro•age women have in common?” Three winners will receive a trip to New York for a photo shoot, and their pictures will appear in Dove advertising.
I know we have a lot of writers at Families.com. Surely some of you will admit to being over 40! Dove does retain all rights to entries and the right to use your essay or ideas. I’m sure the prizes are a lot less expensive than shopping a new advertising agency, and I have no illusions about my chances of winning. I don’t have the skin for modeling, but I’m going to go ahead and submit anyway. It would be a kick to see blurbs from my essay in their ad campaign. And, who knows? Maybe they are looking for crows’ feet, zits, and a double chin!
Entry is online, with a .jpg or .gif less than 200kb. The essay gets submitted at the same time.
Even if you aren’t interested in being Dove’s Next Top Over-40 Model, you can get a free sample of Pro•age at the site. Choose from Dove rich night cream, Dove deodorant, or Dove body wash. I just submitted for the sample of the body wash, so I have no idea yet what size they’ll ship.
Dove is the company that started the Campaign for Real Beauty, recognizing that all women are beautiful simply by virtue of being a woman. So concentrating on a line that celebrates growing older gently and gracefully is right up their alley.
