One of my daughter’s favorite shows to watch before she goes to bed at night is the ever-lovable “Dragon Tales.” Emmy is a little girl who wished on a dragon scale, so she and her brother Max were transported to the land of dragons where they met new friends. In each episode of “Dragon Tales,” Emmy and Max travel to Dragon Land to help the dragons solve a problem similar to one that they are having.
There are many characters who make this show so great. Emmy is six years old and is the one who started everything. Max is her four-year-old brother. Enrique — who I have only seen on a couple of episodes — is Emmy and Max’s neighbor. Ord is the big, lovable dragon who is not as brave as the others. His best friend is Max and usually the challenges that he faces are his fears. Cassie is the little, shy dragon who is very in-tune to others’ feelings. She needs help with her confidence. Zak and Wheezie are a brother and sister who actually share a body. That’s right — “Dragon Tales” has a two-headed dragon. Watching Zak and Wheezie is like watching “The Odd Couple” because they are such opposites. They are constantly having to be reminded to work together. Quetzal is the wise dragon who is the teacher at Dragon Land’s School in the Sky. He helps the other dragons, along with Max and Emmy, when they have a challenge that is too big for them to meet on their own.
Not only is this show entertaining for young ones, but it is also educational. “Dragon Tales” teaches children many important lessons. First of all, this show teaches children to face their fears and learn from facing them. Ord is often an example of this lesson. You’ve heard the old adage “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” This show also teaches children to keep trying no matter what. Whether it’s trying to get a mischievous wind to calm down or helping a unicorn find her glasses, Emmy, Max, and their dragon friends work together to help solve their troubles.
