Dream Trips for Kids (and Their Parents)

My 3-year-old knows exactly what she plans to be when she grows up: absolutely, positively, without a shred of doubt she plans to dedicate her life to helping animals as a veterinarian. (Her 44-year-old uncle, on the other hand, is still “researching” his career options.) My daughter’s love for all things four-legged and furry (or scaly and slithery) is what led me to this incredible travel find. She might not meet the age criteria just yet, but when she does this trip will no doubt be put on the top of our vacation destination list.

The other travel package I’ve listed below caters to the child in all of us. You can never go wrong when Disney is in charge of planning your annual summer trip and this particular deal is ideal for families who are planning a multi-generational vacation.

I consider them dream trips for kids who are itching for school to get out. And the best part… parents will be thrilled that their children will be learning a thing or two in the middle of summer.

Take a look:

BEST FRIENDS ANIMAL SANCTUARY

This five-day, four-night trip starts and ends in Las Vegas but there’s nothing sinful about what you will be doing while you are in the area. A van shuttles you from McCarran International Airport to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, which is located near Kanab, Utah. The sanctuary is home to the country’s largest no-kill refuge for abused and abandoned pets. During your stay you will receive an orientation and tour of the facilities followed by a complete immersion in daily operations. Participants help Best Friends staff with the daily chores and routines that keep the shelter running and its furry residents happy. After two days at the sanctuary you will travel to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, where you’ll get lessons on the canyon’s geology, history and ecosystems. A hike along the slickrock tableland and dinner at the Canyon’s edge follows the introduction. Prices for this adventure begin at $900 per person. For more information or to book a spot click here.

DREAM BIG WITH DISNEY

Have you ever wondered how Disney is able to make the magic that wows millions each year? This summer Mickey and Co. is letting you in on the secrets with an unbelievable tour package. The six-day tour is perfect for multi-generational families, offering a little something for everyone. It offers visitors a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard, and a special tour of the Jim Henson Company studio. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the creations conjured up by the designers, engineers, and technicians that help keep Walt Disney Imagineering humming. The trip also includes a tour of Walt Disney Studios, a welcome reception at the Wine Cellar and Hook’s Pointe at Disneyland Park, character meals, and admission to the parks, a VIP tour of Disneyland and a jaw-dropping view of the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. Prices begin at $2,079. For more information on the package click here.
