DVD Review: Yoga for Inflexible People

As the title suggests, Yoga for Inflexible People is designed for people who have limited flexibility, but want to experience the benefits of practicing yoga. This DVD makes yoga accessible to people of all levels of fitness and flexibility and provides effective practices for becoming more flexible.

This comprehensive DVD has 35 practices with plenty of variety to enjoy a modified yoga practice, while increasing your flexibility. The practices include general practices and practices designed to focus on specific areas of the body, including the legs, hips, shoulders or back.

There are practices to fit your mood, time of day or level of energy. Choose a peaceful practice to relax at the end of the day to prepare for restful sleep. The energizing practice is great for morning or any time of the day when you need an energy boost.

Once you have chosen the category, you can choose the length of the practice. The DVD offers short 15 minute practices all the way up to a 75 minute practice. This allows you to enjoy a quick practice when you have a tight schedule and use the same DVD on the next day for a much longer session.

The variety in this DVD provides a custom practice to fit every need and the changing needs of each person. In addition, the wide range of practices means you can rotate the workout sessions for a well rounded practice all in one product.

Yoga for Inflexible People uses modifications of the traditional yoga poses to make them accessible to all. There are props used throughout the practices, such as a yoga strap, blocks, chair and blankets. Of course, you will also need your mat. Most people won’t need the props for every asana, but the option is there, if needed. Keep the props at hand and use them only when needed.

With regular practice, you will find your flexibility increasing steadily. Even if you can’t imagine becoming flexible, it will happen as you learn correct alignment, use props to increase suppleness and learn to relax into the stretch.
