I saw this recipe on television recently, and it looked delicious. It combines a tart yet sweet homemade dressing with store-bought conveniences. What could be better? It’s perfect for summer, and a wonderful accompaniment to nearly any meat dish. If you’re having a picnic or barbecue, you’ll want to make this too. It doesn’t contain mayonnaise, which makes it a perfect side dish for a hot day. Give it a try—kids will eat their vegetables and no one will leave the table hungry.
For This Recipe You’ll Need:
2 packs Oriental flavored Ramen Noodles (save 1 seasoning packet)
¾ stick butter
¼ cup slivered almonds
¾ cup Canola oil
¼ Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
¼ Cup packed brown sugar (light)
1 oriental ramen seasoning pack
2 bags prepared Broccoli Slaw
¼ to ½ cup sunflower seeds
To Make This Recipe:
Place the Ramen Noodles in a plastic bag. Seal then crush with a rolling pin. You don’t want them ground, just 1-inch or so in length.
Melt butter in a medium-sized pan.
Add crushed Ramen Noodles and slivered almonds. Cook over medium heat till golden brown then remove from pan. Set aside on a plate or in a bowl to cool.
In a small to medium-sized bowl, combine oil, vinegar, brown sugar, and Ramen seasoning packet. Stir. Set aside.
In a large bowl, pour in two bags prepared Broccoli Slaw.
Pour dressing mixture and cooled noodles over it then toss in ¼ to ½ cup sunflower seeds
Toss with your hands and put in serving bowl. Top with chives if desired.
Tip:
This recipe needs to be refrigerated prior to eating. It’s one of those recipes that gets better and better the more it sits. My suggestion is to make it the morning of your afternoon party, or even the night before.
