Easy Costumes for Preschoolers

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

It is that time of year when kids are choosing costumes. Kids want something creative and fun while parents want frugal. The concepts can be combined easily. Here are some ideas that will please both parents and kids.

Bubble Bath Baby

The easiest way to make the bath portion is to use an inflatable bath. I had a duck bath by Munchkin and wondered what other uses it would provide. Just cut out the bottom. It will not prevent you from blowing up then rest of the bath. You can also use cardboard to make a wooden bath. With each you will need to attach thick ribbon for suspenders for the child to wear. Then use white balloons for the bath bubbles. Attach as you desire.

Static Cling

This is a wacky idea but very cute. The child simply needs black or white sweats you can easily purchase inexpensively at discount stores. Then attach colorful socks and baby of doll clothes all over the sweats. You can attach using safety pins on the inside of the sweats so the child can wear the sweats again. Use a small laundry basket as a goodie bag. You should be able to find a small laundry basket and socks at the dollar store.

Black Cat/Dog

Animals can be easy since most of the costume will be the ears and face make up. For a cat, dress your child in black sweats. Purchase cat ears at the dollar store and face make up. You can also buy a headband and hot glue black felt or old stuffed animal ears. The same concept for a dog but wear white sweats, hot glue black felt spots, and a headband with felt floppy ears or old stuffed animal floppy ears. Use face paint to make black noses, whiskers and a circle around the eye, depending on which animal your child chooses.
