Easy Winter Craft Idea

Here’s a simple and affordable craft that will keep your kids busy for hours on a cold winter’s day. These cute sock snowmen breathe new life into old stockings and allow your children to utilize their creativity in the decorating process.

The adorable snowpeople can be made from any size sock you want to recycle. For example, if you want to make a baby snowman, then use children’s socks. For a snow mommy, use women’s socks, etc.

SOCK SNOWPEOPLE

Materials:

2 pairs of socks, one pair of white socks and the other with stripes or other patterns (tube socks work best)

Colored ribbon that matches the socks

Small plastic beads for eyes, nose and mouth, in a color that matches the socks

Three heart shaped beads for buttons

Additional embellishments such as glitter glue or fabric paint

Craft glue

Scissors

Directions:

Roll one white sock into a ball.

Stuff it into the toe of the other white sock.

Roll one of the printed socks into a ball and stuff it into the white sock above the first sock ball.

Roll the top of the second printed sock multiple times until it looks like a little hat for your snowperson.

Roll up the top of the white sock and pull the hat over it.

Tie the ribbon around the white sock to form the snowperson’s neck. Knot the ribbon. This will be the snowperson’s scarf. (The snowperson’s head should be about one third the size of his body.)

Glue the beads to the sock snowperson’s head. Or, you could simply use the glitter glue to add a nose, mouth and eyes.

Glue buttons on snowperson’s stomach.

Arrange the snowperson’s hat and scarf so that he looks more authentic–pull the hat down and place the knotted ribbon (which acts as the scarf) to one side.
