What is better, Pepsi or Coke? How about a cute bunny vs. a cute kitten?
This past week I was playing around on the Internet and stumbled upon eBay’s new match ups site. As far as I can tell the only point of the site is to vote on what you think is better between two things. On the site’s homepage right now there is Ellen vs. Oprah, Gwyneth vs. Madonna, and Hugo Boss vs. Channel. All of the match-ups on the site are submitted by site users, and all of them ask you to choose between two similar, or occasionally not so similar things.
Who would you rather have as friends? Posh Spice and Beckham or Tom and Katie Cruise?
The site is actual pretty entertaining, if you’re looking for something to fill space, or are bored at work. I found myself doing these for a good thirty minutes without noticing the time going by.
After you vote the site will tell you how many votes have been cast, and what percentage of the vote each contender has.
In the Brady Bunch vs. Bunch of banana’s debate the bananas are winning 63.2% to 36.8% this morning with only 19 votes being cast.
You can comment on the different match-up, as well as upload your own to the site. People who upload their own get ranked based on how many people vote on their particular match-up. It looks like there are some people who do this pretty regularly. #21 in the ranks has uploaded 879 of their own march ups, made 354 comments, voted 3,368 times, and received over 27,000 votes.
The site is run by eBay, so of course they have a little widget on the side of the page that has listings on eBay for the items in question.
What sort of “match ups” can you think of?
