Egg-citing Easter Travel Packages for Families

It’s hard to believe that Easter is just about two weeks ago (especially since my daughter just finished opening Christmas presents last week while we were in Hawaii visiting family). Clocks spring ahead one hour this weekend and the countdown to spring break is on for many school kids around the nation.

As such numerous resorts are offering Easter travel packages designed especially for families with young children. If you aren’t headed to grandma and grandpa’s for Easter you might consider taking advantage of the following deals which offer some creative holiday-themed events for the entire family.

ARIZONA

The Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona is offering a sunny travel deal called the “Spring Break Gold Rush.” It features a weekend packed full of treasure hunting, rock climbing, and nature walks. On Easter Sunday families can participate in an Easter-egg hunt, a magic show, personal visits from the Easter bunny, and performances by Native American dancers. Nightly rates, including some activities, brunch, taxes and resort fees, start at $577 per room.

NORTH CAROLINA

Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina is known as one of the most popular kid-friendly golf resorts in the nation, but during the days leading up to Easter it is hosting an incredible line-up of family-friendly holiday activities. The weekend starts with a “Family Fun Run” on Friday, followed by a scavenger hunt, “Cottontail Croquet,” relay races, hayrides, an all-family putting contest, face painting, and a good, old-fashioned tug-of-war. Easter Sunday features a traditional egg hunt on the great lawn and Pinehurst’s famous brunch buffet. Overnight rates start at $179 per person. Kids 17 and under stay, eat and golf free.

OHIO

The Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio has just completed a massive renovation project and is now considered America’s largest indoor waterpark resort. To celebrate the safari-themed lodge is offering an Easter travel deal featuring bunny-themed events like the “Bunny Hop Sack Race,” bean bag tosses, pin-the-tail-on-the-bunny, and jelly bean bingo. The Easter “Dine and Stay Special” starts at $349 a night for a family of four, including unlimited admission to the park and Sunday brunch.

WEST VIRGINIA

The Greenbrier, the ultra-luxe historic landmark located in Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, is offering families a basketful of egg-citing holiday activities this Easter. Highlights include the “Easter Fun Fest” and “Hippity-Hop Dinner and Dance Party,” which feature two buffets, a jellybean guessing contest, and caricature and balloon artists. Kids can also participate in movie nights, magic and puppet shows, dance lessons, and a live performance in the resort’s children’s theater. Nightly rates during the Easter weekend start at $424 per room.
