Eight Cent Airline Tickets?

Eight cents? If you’re wondering if it’s a typo, it’s not. Spirit Airlines is offering flights for as little as eight cents. They also have eight-dollar flights, and eighty-eight dollar flights. Crazy Eights! Or Loco Ocho in Spirit Air talk.

Jump on this quick as they have to be purchased by June 20, 2007 at midnight, and all flights must be concluded before November 14, 2007. All available dates are Tuesdays and Wednesday, traditionally low occupancy days for airlines. The good news is that they’re not limited to airports in close proximity to each other.

Do you live in the Motor City? Detroit to New York for eight cents, or Detroit to Orlando for only eight bucks. Want to try your luck at slots on both coasts? Atlantic City to Las Vegas is only forty-four dollars. Always wanted to visit Jamaica? For $8 you can fly there from Ft. Lauderdale.

If you fly a lot on the East Coast, it’s probably worth it to join Spirit Air’s $9 club. No, not all of your flights will be $9, but there are substantial discounts and first looks at their sales. Your $29.95 annual membership fee will likely be recouped in the first flight.

Spirit is the Ultra Low Cost Carrier in its markets. But that doesn’t mean it’s a cattle car. They fly Airbuses with deluxe leather seats. For the bigger patrons, their trademarked Big Seat is available for a slight extra charge. Part of the way they keep costs so low is that they charge for checked luggage. Passengers can bring along one carry-on, but every checked piece is going to cost you an extra $10. That lets them fly leaner or transport cargo with passengers.

Remember that this deal ends June 20 at midnight, so there’s no time to dally.
