Embarrassing Pregnancy Symptoms

If there is anything in life that will redefine “humility,” it’s pregnancy. Not only do you develop a tolerance for needles, you also learn how to take a multitude of embarrassing moments in stride. It’s just part of the territory. Here are some of my top embarrassing moments and symptoms I experienced during my pregnancy.

Fuzzy Wuzzy
Some women have no problem lifting their shirt to reveal a blossoming baby belly for all to see. Some women are a little hesitant to show off their stretch marks. I had a different reason to keep my shirt tucked: hair! The oddest thing happened during my first trimester: a dark peach fuzz appeared on my belly, especially around my belly button! A few fellow mommies confessed a similar issue and that made it easier to stomach. (No pun intended!)

Where Do I Live?
After a visit to the library to pick up a few birthing books, I hopped in my car to head home. I took a left. I took another left. I took a right. I took a…. I forgot which way to turn! My husband answered the phone to hear me in hysterics over my predicament. I had expected a little forgetfulness – I hadn’t expected to completely forget how to drive home from a place I’d been to hundreds of times! (I used to work down the road from the library.)

I\'m so embarrassed!!Excuse Me!
I was visiting with some friends when suddenly someone said something funny. I laughed out loud, but laughter wasn’t the only thing my friends heard. Fortunately they were kind enough to chuckle but not dwell on my fluky flatulence.

There She Goes!
It only happened once, but I heard about it for the rest of my pregnancy. During my second trimester I was singing in the church choir one Sunday morning, when all of a sudden the volume in the room came way down and the lights seemed to dim. A little voice in my head said, “uh oh,” since this was an all too familiar feeling. I sat down in the chair behind me and let myself sink into the chairs next to me as I lost consciousness. I fainted in front of the whole congregation!

Oops!
Stress incontinence is what happens to pregnant women when their bladder is under a lot of pressure. All it takes is a sneeze to spring a small leak! Near the end of my pregnancy, I suffered an oops at least once a day. I’ve never been more thankful for panty liners in my life!
