For some kids summer meant taking a vacation somewhere, camping or being involved in summer camp. For some kids they mostly stayed home and hung out doing things kids like to do, such as neighborhood games with the other kids, playing on the playground, going swimming and going on picnics.
Whatever summer the kids have they are likely filled with good memories that they will treasure. A great way to keep them busy over the end of their summer vacation is by making a “My Summer Vacation” collage. They will have it forever to remember their summer vacation and it is likely that this will be one of their back to school assignments so you will be one step ahead of the game! It is also a great picture for Mom to put in her child’s “memories” box.
To make a “My Summer Vacation” collage:
*Purchase a large sheet of poster board. They are usually sold at the dollar stores and come in all colors.
*Get together any pictures that you took with your camera over the summer. You may want to make duplicates so that you will not lose any of them in the process.
*Gather together glue sticks, glitter glue, crayons, markers, stickers, ribbons, buttons, yarns and anything else that you think you may need to complete the project.
*Help your child to lay everything out on the poster board before he starts the project. Make sure that he is happy with the organization of the pictures and items before he actually applies them to the poster board and makes any marks.
*Once he likes the way it looks you can help him glue everything in place. Leave room underneath the pictures to put in captions, such as names of places or activities, dates and other pertinent information.
*After his artwork is complete hang it up on a wall somewhere so that he can enjoy the finished piece.
