Enjoy a Spring Fling in Oregon

The Beaver State. The Web-foot State. The Sunset State. Oregon’s list of nicknames is seemingly endless and if you have ever visited the Pacific Northwest you know the state lives up to them all. Oregon is home to vast forests, fertile valleys, and an incredibly rugged coastline. What’s more, the views of the Pacific Ocean from one of the state’s many cliffs are some of the most photographed in the world. If you are looking for an affordable place to take the entire family this spring consider heading to Oregon.

To help persuade you hotels in the Portland area are offering special spring rates. Take a look:

JUPITER HOTEL

Listed as one of the city’s newest lodgings, the Jupiter Hotel is located in the Hawthorne District on the east side of the Willamette River. Right now the hotel is offering a special “After Midnight” room-rate discount for those that check in after 12:00 a.m. (hence the name). The package takes advantage of the hotel’s close proximity to Doug Fir, a restaurant/lounge that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner until 4 a.m. For $59 per night you’ll get a standard air-conditioned room with wireless Internet, and other staples such as cable TV, clock radios, and hair dryers. The Jupiter is also within walking distance of one of Oregon’s largest malls-—the Lloyd Center and a host of other locally owned coffee shops, boutiques, and antique stores.

HOTEL LUCIA

The trendy boutique-style 128-room hotel sits on the corner of Broadway and Stark streets in downtown Portland and is close to a number of the city’s most popular attractions. Currently, you can take advantage of the “Eat, Sleep, and Be Parked” package, which includes a one-night stay, a $30 food and beverage voucher for the hotel’s restaurants, and unlimited in-and-out valet parking for $179 per night. Each guest room features an iPod docking station, a flat-screen TV, plush bathrobes, daily newspaper delivery, a coffee maker, and other amenities.

THE HEATHMAN HOTEL

The 150-room hotel, built in 1927, is situated in the heart of Portland’s Cultural District, and prides itself on its spectacular location to notable attractions including the Portland Art Museum and a variety of restaurants and city parks. Right now you can indulge in the hotel’s “Books by Your Bedside” package, which includes a one-night stay, continental breakfast for two, and a curator’s guided tour of the hotel’s library of 4,000-plus volumes. You’ll also receive a complimentary hardcover book by a recent guest author (the likes of Tom Wolfe, Wallace Stenger, John Updike, and Alice Walker), a travel reading light, a bookmark, a city walking map, and a map and guide to Powell’s City of Books. Plus, for every package purchased, the Heathman will make a donation in the guest’s name to SMART (Start Making a Reader Today), a nonprofit organization that promotes literacy for Oregon children–all for just $229 per room per night.
