Christmas Eve has been and gone. How did we spend it? In the morning we played tennis but petered out as the day became too hot and other things needed doing.
Grabbed the last minute Christmas card out of the mail box and hung it on the card tree before lunch. Mick’s tomatoes, cucumbers and beans he grows have been staples of our diet recently and the passionfruit vines are raining passionfruit. Mick went and picked those that had fallen off the vine. Ten minutes later I went and picked up another eight. No doubt the southerly breeze that blew up this afternoon helped dislodge a few.
During the afternoon I made baba ghanoush. Mick’s taste test pronounced it perfect.
Then it was time to wrap each others presents and put them under the tree.
Of course we still had to wrap the family’s presents. I thought it would be earlier this year, and in a way it is. It has often been after we come home from Christmas Carols.
I admit I love going to Carols on Christmas Eve. It puts the focus where it should be. I love being able to go together and join with other couples and families singing the carols.
When our children were younger and we used to go to Christmas Eve carols it really settled them down from all the other hype that goes on with Christmas, making it easier to get them to sleep before the big day.
Even though the idea of glowstix are cute and colorful and you never get hot wax on you like you sometimes did from the candles, part of me still liked the candle idea. However, I have to say it looked good when with the lights were out and everyone was waving red, blue, yellow and green glowstix in the air as we all sang the carols.
Happy Christmas everyone. I hope each of you enjoy the time with spouse and family.
