Enter God,the Encourager

God knows when we need that extra special boost of encouragement. I was feeling discouraged about my writing and where it was headed. On an online writing group I am part of, one of the members raised the question of how we deal with the discouragement that for many of us, is part and parcel of the writing life.

Enter God- the great encourager. The first thing to happen was another writer asking me to edit the sequel to “>’The Singing Silence.’ You can see my review of this at my live journal blog for dec 30.

It also helps when people respond to blogs I’ve written here at families.com and this week I’ve had responses on the site and by email.

Then I found that a story I’d written and that had been accepted last year by School Magazine was featured in this month’s magazine along with great illustrations on the cover of the magazine. Or so I’m told. My copies of the magazine are on their way to me. But the teacher notes written to accompany the story, I’m sure teachers will find them helpful.

And still the encouragement kept coming. In the mail I received a magazine featuring one of my book reviews.

I actually made time to sit down and polish a story to send off to market that has already published one of my children’s stories. And Tristi posted the interview I did with her.

Then yesterday I received a letter from someone wanting to buy a copy of my newest book for young readers, ‘The Goanna Island Mystery.’ And still the encouragements kept coming, as I received a phone call from the editor of that book checking my address so he could send me my author copies. That’s always exciting to hold a new book in my hands.

Then today I received an email from a lass in Canada who has chosen one of my poems, which is up at famous poets and poems for her English class and wanted some extra information about it, which I was pleased to give.

Writers can tend to be an emotional lot filled at times with self doubts and fears etc,so it is good that God knows exactly where we’re at and steps in to encourage.

And I’m sure too, that these encouragements from the Lord are in answer to a specific prayer request I asked the others, in the 40 day prayer covenant I have been part of, to pray for.
