Enter the Hallmark “Get Carded” Contest

cards Greeting cards are a special way to show people that you care about them. Receiving a card from someone you love makes your whole day a bit brighter. Tell Hallmark your best story of giving or receiving a card. You could win cash to put toward a trip to visit someone special.

Hallmark might be the biggest greeting card producer and distributer in the entire world. It is definitely the most popular. Every store that sells cards will have some that are made by Hallmark.

There is a reason why holidays like Valentine’s Day and Sweetest Day are often referred to as “Hallmark Holidays”, (instead of General Greetings Holidays, for example). Hallmark is to cards what Kleenex is to facial tissue.

I happen to be a person who mails out a lot of greeting cards, all year round. I usually send out birthday cards to my siblings (but I think I forgot this year). Over the years, there have been a few relatives who I periodically mail cards to, just to make them smile. I have a tendency to send out way too many Christmas cards. I would have to guess that at least some of these cards were made by Hallmark.

Right now, Hallmark is doing a “Get Carded” contest. To enter, you need to send them your best story of either giving, or receiving, a card. You can say it with words, and with a photo. Post your own, personal, story on the Facebook page for Hallmark cards. While you are there, you can read over the submissions from other people who have entered the contest. Make sure you enter before October 9, 2011.

Your entry must be written in English. The title of your entry cannot exceed 200 characters (not words, characters), and the essay portion cannot exceed 700 characters. Keep it short and sweet! Choose your words wisely, and watch those spaces! If you are someone who does a lot of communicating through Twitter, then you shouldn’t have a problem with the limited amount of characters that the Hallmark “Get Carded” contest allows for.

Sometime after October 9, 2011, there will be a judging phase. A total of five people will have the highest scoring submissions. These people will be the “finalists”. Then, there will be a voting period, where everyone can cast their vote. The winner will be the one who got the most votes. There will also be a second place winner.

The first prize winner will receive a $4,500 cash prize. The winner can use that money to travel, and to go visit, someone who is very special to them. The second prize winner will receive a $250.00 Hallmark Gold Crown gift card. According to Hallmark, this prize “is like getting free cards for a year!”
