Entertaining on New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is just over two weeks away. Another brand new year is about to begin and it’s an exciting time. If you’re planning a party, you want it to be exciting too! So, how do you plan to keep everyone entertained?

Try some of these ideas:

Music

Great music helps. Try to get everybody up and dancing. You will need to make sure there is plenty of room for dancing, so you might want to do a little furniture re-arranging before guests arrive.

Games

Games are also great. You can buy games, pull out board games or card games you already have, make up games with dice, or play charades. It may not sound too thrilling, but playing charades can be good for lots of laughs.

Prizes

Offer door prizes. Give guests a slip of paper with a number on each end. Have them tear the paper in half, keeping one side and placing the other numbered side in a bowl. Throughout the evening pick a number and give away a fun prize or a gag gift.

New Year's Eve Decorations streamersFood

Most celebrations include food. Instead of having your party catered or preparing a meal, consider a “make your own” party. Provide pizza crusts, sauce, and a variety of tasty toppings, or have each guest bring a topping, and have everyone design their own pizzas.

Movies

Movies are great too. Pick up a hilarious comedy or a DVD of the stand up routine of your favorite comedian. Serve a great selection of popcorn, from buttered and cheesy to kettle corn and caramel corn.

Perform

This idea can be a lot of fun if you’re daring enough to do it. Pull out your kids’ karaoke machine. You and your guests can take turns entertaining each other. Make sure you have the video camera handy for this one!
