Book Description

Take a field trip with Ms. Gwinn’s class and discover how fun and educational being in the outside world can be. More than 25 beautiful illustrations take you to each place the students visit along their nature walk. Meet the various animals they encounter, from squirrels, to rabbits, and the dreaded rat, and learn identifying characteristics of each. Learn about the environment and what can be done to help protect it. Adults and children alike will be laughing out loud at the humorous ending. A great read for at home and in the classroom.

My Thoughts

Are You Sure That Was a Rabbit? is a book for those green environment lovers. Children are taken on a field trip while the teacher discusses the merits of some environment issues. Through the story the children encounter several animals and learn about them. The introduction of the animals is quite creative and funny. The focus of the book is to protect the environment as the children are introduced to the idea of recycling, organic gardening, and the importance of fresh air. The children begin the day by stretching and doing yoga. The children are also told that trees help stop global warming.

Now, I am all for organic gardening, stretching in the morning, and nature walks. However, I am not one for yoga nor do I give global warming a second thought. The premise of saving the world is one I found to be “agenda” oriented. If you are not like me, you may think the book has a place on your bookshelf. It I quite funny and the illustrations are cute. I just skip the yoga and the global warming aspects of it. I know that may sound odd to many but I also know many who agree. So, I am letting those know who agree with me what this book contains.
