We all know that we need to nourish ourselves spiritually. Our testimonies will not stay strong, if we are not working on developing them on a daily basis. One important part of making sure that you are strengthening your testimony is to establish set times to study the scriptures meditate and pray. If you set up a routine then you will better be able to accomplish the most important tasks for you.
It is not always easy to find time to yourself to read and ponder the gospel. It can be difficult to squeeze into the day. If you do not have time set aside for these tasks then it gets skipped over or cut short. You may find it difficult to find a quiet place to study the scriptures. Or you may feel that you do not have enough time to spend on scripture study and prayer.
If you need to improve or adjust the way that you study the scriptures, you should look at several factors before setting up a new routine.
1) You should ask yourself how long you want to study for. If you want to increase your understanding of the scriptures or begin to study more in depth, you may need to increase your time to at least half an hour. This amount of time really allows you to focus on the scriptures and ponder the words that you are studying.
2) Ask yourself what is keeping you from studying on a regular basis right now. Do mornings work better for you, or would you rather sleep in? Are you a night owl and feel that the time would be most effective then? Have you though about sometime during the day? Eliminate all the obstacles that you find in your way.
3) Finally you should just start doing it. If you miss a day do not beat yourself up, just start over the next day. Soon this will become a habit, and you will look forward to receiving this spiritual nourishment every single day.
