Evaluating the Past Month: January

It is the end of January and time to evaluate how I have done this past month. It’s a good time for all of us to do that. Did you meet any goals that you set? Did you incorporate any changes to your diet? Have you lost weight? Do you feel more energized?

Reflect on the good things. Spend time really thinking about positive changes you have made. It can be very encouraging.

The biggest victory I had was going the entire month without a sweet…no cookies, cake, ice cream or the like. I decided to implement one “big” change each month and for me January was about the sweets. Granted, I made other healthy changes but this is one that was a biggie for me.

I will continue to keep sweets off my list but for February I am going to set a new goal. And let me tell you, it feels good to know I was able to do it.

I am happy to say that I have lost some inches and some weight. It hasn’t been a huge amount but then again, I am going about this right way. I’m not taking a magical pill nor am I doing anything drastic. Yet I am seeing some results.

Here is where it can get discouraging for many people. They reach their time when they want to evaluate how they have done and if they haven’t seen anything significant, they are ready to give up. Fitness is ongoing. It is a process. Don’t give up yet.

So now I am going to be incorporating something new into my exercise routine for February. It’s time to set a new goal and look forward to more changes.

It’s all about steps. It’s all about setting realistic goals. What made me stick to them? I am just bound and determined, I guess. I’m tired of the excuses. I’m tired of the “start again on Monday” routine. I’m just tired.

Well not really. I don’t feel as tired anymore, now that I am making some healthy changes. But don’t fret if January wasn’t such a victorious month for you. You have a new month ahead of you. Set some new goals and try again.

There is nothing wrong with picking yourself back up off the ground and beginning again.
