Evertalk has a New iPhone App

iPhone Evertalk is a company that will let you create a living tribute or a memorial website for a family member on Facebook. It can also be used for fundraising campaigns. Or, you can use the Evertalk website, instead. There now is an Evertalk iPhone app that you can use to access Evertalk pages.

It is becoming more and more common for people to create an online memorial for their loved ones who have passed away. This is often done in addition to the traditional obituary that is printed in the local newspaper. Today, genealogists dig through old newspapers in order to find obituaries of their ancestors. Future genealogists will probably be digging through the internet for that type of information.

You can use Evertalk to send an announcement that lets everyone know that your loved one has passed away. It will let you send it through email, Facebook, and Twitter right from your Evertalk account. Let your entire family know all the important information at the same time. It can be a tool to help connect with your living family members. Everyone can share photos and memories of that relative on the Evertalk memorial page for that person.

Now, Evertalk has released an iPhone app. You can download it for free from the iTunes store. It lets you browse the Evertalk tribute pages of your relatives through your smartphone. It’s like having Evertalk in your pocket. This could make it really easy to show relatives who are not on Facebook the memorial pages of family members.

I’ve done some searching, but could not find anything that indicates that an Android version of the Evertalk app exists. Maybe they will create one soon. I’m sure there will be an announcement to let everyone know when they make one, (just like the announcement for the iPhone one).

Genealogy and technology have become very interconnected. Many genealogists will go online to search for vital records and obituaries as they are putting together their family tree. Some will go to actual archives and courthouses and dig through paper records, but this isn’t the first step for many. Perhaps it is only natural that apps like Evertalk are starting to pop up.

Overall, I think that Evertalk can be a useful app, and that it can help to connect relatives with one another during a time of grief. I think it would be a simple way to collect up photos, stories, and memories about a loved one who has passed away into one, easily accessible, place.
