Exciting News – From My Kitchen to Yours

I’m very excited to share with you a new gluten free cookery book that has just come on the market. Since getting Slow Cooker by Sally Wise, which has become my favorite and one I turn to often, I was really looking forward to this new one especially for those on a gluten free diet. From My Kitchen to Yours by Sally Wise does not disappoint.

It starts with a list of useful gluten free products for the pantry and helpful hints such as this one about using homemade pancakes instead of gluten free lasagna sheets as they do not end up soggy. I must admit it’s not something I’d have thought of.

Since some curry powders can contain gluten, I liked that Sally Wise has a recipe for making your own gluten free curry powder which can then be stored in the fridge and will keep for several weeks.

The other thing I liked was this 264 page book has 88 pages of main meals. Among these are standards like, Chicken Parmigiana and Butter Chicken. For something a little different try the Chicken Schnitzel with Spiced Apricot Cream, Monkfish with Parmesan and Hazelnut Crust, Scarborough Pork with Apricots, among others.

The 50 pages of desserts include Apple and Lemon Curd Tart, (yum!) Apricot Mousse Cake, and Blackberry Meringue Pie. If you can’t find a delicious gluten free dessert here, then you must be looking with your eyes shut and taste buds turned off. If you like something really rich you might be interested in Jaffa Mud Cake with Grand Marnier Sauce. There’s also a lovely collection of lemon recipes which I know I’ll be investigating.

Published by ABC Books, HarperCollins Publishers,From My Kitchen to Yours is a little gem that will be a great source of reference for anyone with a person with gluten free allergy in their house. I do have another gluten free cookbook but this one is far more practical and contains more usable recipes.

Not being the tidiest cook out, I get the feeling this is going to become another of my recipe books that will end up with food stains all over the favorite pages. Well, at least anyone who picks it up will know which ones my family and I liked.
