Have you ever given much thought to what you wear when you workout? I have a confession to make about my exercise gear. For the longest time I would workout in my pajamas.
It just seemed easier to stay in them since it was the morning, get in my workout and then take a shower and get dressed for the day. Although they were comfortable (which is important when choosing clothing to exercise in), it wasn’t really workable.
Take for instance my pajama bottoms which were a bit too loose. Or the longer pants that I would step on.
But I have since changed into proper exercise clothing. Even if you exercise in your home, you should make sure you are wearing the correct type.
As I mentioned, you need to be comfortable. That includes not only the shirt and pants you wear but the bra, socks and shoes. A sports bra does wonders, especially when you are doing jumping jacks or other vigorous types of exercise.
If you are going to exercise outside your house, such as walking, wear clothing that is suited to the weather. For instance, in warmer temperatures you should wear light-colored clothing.
Wearing the appropriate type of shoes is important as well. If you are a runner, invest in shoes designed for that. If you are going to be doing a lot of aerobics, find shoes that work best for this.
Although you may end up spending a lot of money on shoes, quality is very important. In fact, wearing the right shoe can even help avoid injuries.
You should also make sure your socks are absorbent enough that your feet don’t sweat to the point where your skin is becoming irritated. You could end up with painful blisters.
When it comes to exercise clothing, it isn’t so much about what is “right” but what fits you comfortably and enables you to move around. Do you have any other suggestions on what to wear when exercising?
