Expressing Thankfulness for Your Home Business

It was decided kind of last minute that I would be hosting Thanksgiving this year. Turns out, this is a good thing because it will force me to take a day off. When you work from home, it can be very easy to work right through the holidays.

In order for me to take off however, I will need to revamp my schedule. I may have to work on Saturday instead. But that’s okay…I am recognizing the importance of putting aside my work when it’s necessary. But just as important, is unplugging myself from the computer (which is where I do my work).

As I prepare for Thanksgiving, though, I know it has to start in my heart. Getting the house clean and planning the meal are certainly a part of it. But the heart of Thanksgiving is about expressing gratitude for your life and all the people that make it up.

So as I am thinking about my work here at home, my heart is swelling with gratefulness. I am so thankful that I am able to do what I love. How many people can really say that they love their job? I can.

I am so thankful that I work with a great editor, someone who spurs me on to do better and provides unique challenges through my work. Although we are miles apart, I have such gratitude for her.

I am thankful for my supportive family, especially my husband. We both took a risk when I quit working outside the home to make something of my dream. But it has paid off and I couldn’t have done it without his support. I am appreciative that he sees so much potential in me.

I am thankful for children who understand what it means when I say, “Mom’s working.” I appreciate their respect for my time but yet am so thankful that I am available to them whenever they need me.

No matter what our circumstances, we can always find something to be thankful for. What are you feeling thankful for, when you think about your home business?
