Facing, Coping With, and Fixing Our Imperfections

Ah, wouldn’t it be fabulous if we really were perfect! Instead, we get to embrace our humanity and wrestle with our flaws and imperfections. Starting a new business endeavor or trying to juggle a home business and a family (among other things) can accentuate and bring out some of our “fatal flaws” or natural imperfections. Some of these can actually inhibit or get in the way of our success and happiness. It might just be time to face, cope, and attempt to fix some of those flaws and imperfections (or learn to let go and NOT worry about some of them!)…

So, what’s holding you up? Is it procrastination? Impatience? An inability to get organized? Are you easily distracted? Do you lack confidence and self-esteem? Do you have a hard time making choices and decisions? Maybe it’s as simple as poor handwriting or trouble with numbers and bookkeeping? Whatever the imperfections and flaws you may be wrestling with, acknowledging them and making a plan to either learn to live with them or learn new skills to help diminish the problem issues can help you feel better about yourself and, may actually show up in increased productivity for your business.

This certainly doesn’t mean that you need to beat yourself up or become so focused on fixing your imperfections that you actually make things worse! In fact, facing and accepting the realities of who you are and then just letting go can often be the most healing and healthy thing you can do. Sometimes, it’s just the process of acknowledging and naming things out loud that we find to be stumbling blocks in our personalities and working styles are all we need to make major and lasting changes.

So, what are your imperfections? Maybe today can be the start of something new and fresh as you face, cope, and attempt to fix those little flaws that might be holding you back!
