In a rare turn of events we went from experiencing blazing hot summer temps in the low 90s to daytime highs in the low 60s and 10 inches of rain in just the past four days. Talk about a major change. Right now it is still raining and the thermometer is sitting at 59 degrees. It feels like late October instead of late August. It’s not exactly swimming weather, but it is the perfect conditions to get you in the mood to book a fall vacation.
United Airlines is offering some amazing airfares during its Fall Fare Sale. If you are planning to take advantage of the incredible airfare to Hawaii you may be interested in this other deal. The Maui Ocean Center is featuring a new program that allows you to dive into the world of sea turtles through “Turtle Mania — A Honu Experience.”
The program consists of presentations on turtle biology and behavior. In addition, children can participate in a Sea Turtle Encounter, where kids 6 and older can help prepare meals for the turtles, assist in the feeding and learn what happens to the turtles when they are released to the ocean. Encounters include a lunch or afternoon snack at the aquarium’s restaurant. The cost for the Sea Turtle Encounter is $20 per person in addition to the regular admission.
Children can also participate in a “Totally Turtles Sleepover,” which includes a pizza party, pancake breakfast and souvenir photos. The sleepover is from 5:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily for students in the third to eighth grades. Price is $65 per child.
