Whew! I woke up with a little chill this morning. Somehow, summer seems to have slipped into fall without a warning. It’s not officially fall for a couple more weeks, but it is starting to feel like it. I have also begun noticing slight color changes in the scenery. For the most part, things are still green, but the grass and some plants and trees are just beginning to turn. I’m excited. I live in the Ozark Mountains and I have great scenery everywhere I look, but it is magnificent during the fall when the leaves are changing. I will have to try to post some pictures when the leaves begin to take on gorgeous tones.
Speaking of which, photos of changing leaves make wonderful fall decorating artwork. A grouping of small photos, or one or two large photos blown up can instantly and easily add seasonal elements to your décor.
Panoramic views are nice but a close up of one beautifully colored leaf can also become an interesting, seasonal piece of artwork. Choosing frames (or painting frames) in rich colors that coordinate with the changing leaves, will enhance the autumn effect.
To bring real leaves into your décor, try pressing them. Leaves can then be placed inside picture frames to bring in a natural element.
A wooden bowl filled with a mixture of twigs, acorns, leaves and maybe some dried flowers or cinnamon sticks to add fragrance also makes a great accent. A wooden salad bowl (or an entire salad bowl set) is a great choice. You can often pick such items up for about a dollar or two at a yard sale or thrift shop. Instead of the large bowl, you can also fill smaller bowls with nuts, leaves, or other natural elements and line the small bowls up down the center of the table.
