I love the fall. It has to be my favorite season of all. The weather is crisp but summer, the afternoon sun has that warm glow reflecting off the colorful leaves, the fall festivals, hay rides and farmers markets are in full swing, and you expect the smells of apples and cinnamon every where you turn.
Getting our home ready for fall is one of my favorite things to do. It just seems to warm up the whole place and makes me feel like snuggling my kids and trying out a new recipe, such as pumpkin whoopie pies.
It also makes me feel like running to the local landscaping place and loading up on pumpkins and hay bales or to Target for fall decorations and a harvest colored couch pillow or two.
While I may want to buy, I do not want to spend, money that is. So, this year, instead of having to choose between buying out the store and doing without, I’m concentrating on finding fall home bargains. Here are my favorite finds so far.
Yankee Candles
I’ve found a few places for bargain Yankee Candles. The thrift store offers the lowest prices, but it is always hit or miss for finding them. Next, try Bed, Bath & Beyond and use a 25 percent off coupon. They often have a discounted scent of the month that will give you double the savings, since you can still use the coupon.
Fall Decor
Jo-Ann’s Fabrics and Marshalls has some of the least expensive new fall home decor that I have seen. With Jo-Anns, ask the cashier to ring up a coupon if you don’t have one. They are usually very obliging. Look for pieces that can be used all season or even all year. For example, a pumpkin decoration has more staying power than does a jack-o-lantern, and plain pieces in fall or harvest colors can be used year round, if you like.
