In a move that she herself considers “highly unusual,” TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is joining the ranks of supermodel Christie Brinkley, actress Drew Barrymore and singer Rihanna as the face of CoverGirl cosmetics.
Not only is the 50-year-old comedian following in the footsteps of the aforementioned beauties she is also getting paid a sizeable chunk of cash for doing so. The popular cosmetic company is reportedly paying DeGeneres a cool million to promote the brand.
Super gorgeous Brinkley–the original face of CoverGirl cosmetics–promoted the company for more than 20 years and at 54 years old was recently rehired to endorse CoverGirl’s new line of products, which are aimed at older women. There’s talk that after DeGeneres’ first ads debut she will join Brinkley in promoting the new line.
Meanwhile, actress Mischa Barton is stepping out of her comfort zone as well to launch her own line of hair accessories.
The former The O.C. star recently announced that she has teamed up with accessories designer Stacey Lapidus to create a range of headbands. (Think: across the forehead “hippy” style designs as opposed to the plastic and fabric versions that sit on the top of the head.)
According to Barton, her headbands will include fabulous materials, including silk, feathers, crystals and pearls and will cost from $40 to $200.
Finally, Paris Hilton wants to share the spotlight with the newly reformed Britney Spears.
The former BFFs, who hung out together at several post VMA parties earlier this week, are back on speaking terms and in fact, Hilton is reportedly so impressed by Spears’ reformation that she wants to team up with the former derailed pop star for a duet.
The hotel heiress turned singer turned actress is currently working on a follow-up to her self-titled 2006 debut album and told reporters that she is trying to convince Spears to collaborate on a track.
“My new album’s out soon and it would be hot if I could do a duet with Britney,” Hilton shared with reporters Sunday night. “It is really poppy and sounds a bit like Kylie Minogue.”
The leggy socialite also revealed that she plans to team up with her boyfriend, Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden on a song for her new album as well.
