Family Fishing in Minnesota

Last year, my kids insisted we go fishing. We had visited the local lakes many times but with it being close to our vacation time, we decided to pull out all the stops, scheduling a trip to the beautiful state of Minnesota. After researching what seems like hundreds of places, I found the most incredible resort called Pehrson Lodge. This particular resort sits on Lake Vermillion, which includes 40,000 acres, 1,200 miles of shoreline, and 365 islands.

The great thing about staying at Pehrson Lodge was the charming cabins, all nestled beautifully on 2,000 feet of shore frontage. Down below, the kids had a blast with the sandy beaches and the view from the cabin was breathtakingly beautiful. While the kids could play and burn off energy, I was able to kick back and relax, which was something I desperately needed. Now, in addition to the lake view cabins, you can choose one among the 26 that sits in the woods, just as beautiful but with an entirely different view.

What I liked is that the cabin felt like home. It was extremely neat and clean. In addition, the owners of the lodge provided all the necessary linens, towels, bedding, and the kitchen was completely equipped. When we showed up, all I had to do was toss the luggage on the bed and forget about everything – what a dream.

Now, if you have children, Pehrson Lodge also offers supervised programs for two hours each day. This means you can fish, swim, or soak up some sun while the little ones are canoeing, hiking, crafts, fishing, fly-tying, games, day trips, and more. The staff is highly trained and very professional so as you enjoy your own activities, you do not need to worry about the kids.

While I have not been to this location, I had a friend who took her kids there and I think we will try it next time. At Head-O-Lake Bay, apparently a beautiful island offers all the privacy in the world. It is like having your own personal island, away from all the hustle and bustle of normal life. In addition, my friend said the cabins were clean and the Island Cabin offered tons of activities, perfect for family travel.
