The end of summer always gets me thinking about the holidays. I know, I know, it’s early but here is a cute little craft you can make with just paper, tape and a stapler. You can make them small or large, hang them on the tree or from the ceiling. Easy and inexpensive decorations that look fancy.
First you will need six pieces of paper for each snowflake. This one is made from one sheet of printer paper cut into six squares, but I’ve also make them with six pieces of printer paper. If you use six piece of printer paper it makes very large snowflakes that look good hanging in a group in front of a windwo.
If you are using just one piece of paper, fold it in thirds and then in half, cut on the lines. Now fold each piece into a triangle trimming off any excess to make it square.
Fold the triangle in half, to mark the middle and make three cuts on each side from the folded edge almost to the middle line. Do not cut through the middle line, your cuts should follow the slanted side of the triangle.
Now, open one of the squares and in the middle will be a square, fold the points of that square to the middle and tape together.
Turn it over and bring the points of the next square together and tape. Flip the square over and repeat. Repeat one more time until your square looks like this:
Do this for each square. Take three of the “arms” and staple them together at one corner, do the same for the other three and finally staple both sets of three together.
Take tape and tape the arms where they touch to make your snowflake stand flat. That’s it, isn’t it pretty?
