After spending the first part of the month tackling New York Fashion Week trends I decided it would be a good idea to update you on what has been going on in the world of fashion on the other side of the country.
It may not be haute couture, but “Desperate Housewives” Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria know a good thing when they see… and feel it. The lovely ladies are on a mission to inform the world about Pierce Jeans—for good reason. Longoria recently told TV’s “Extra” that not only are they most “fashionable and great-fitting jeans she owns,” but the company donates 50% of their profits to children’s charities. This year, Pierce Jeans has chosen to give their proceeds to “Kids of Kilimanjaro,” which provides in-school meals to needy children. Company executives say their goal is to support 100,000 children a year.
I’ve blogged about black being the new blonde, but could brown now be the new black? (Or is it the new blonde?) The question was raised after Barbie-girl blonde Jessica Simpson went dark for last week’s Grammys. So what’s the real story behind her new dye job? According to her hair stylist, Simpson was playing with extensions from her HairDo line and feel in love with a certain red hairpiece. Her hair stylist told reporters that he clipped on the extension and sprayed the front of her hair with temporary color. According to reports, she loved the change so much she later asked her stylist to make it permanent. As for the rumors that the former Mrs. Nick Lachey went dark for new boyfriend John Mayer’s benefit—apparently it’s not true.
In previous blogs I’ve told you about how I like a clean house, but did you also know that I like to keep my make up (and skin) germ-free as well? If you are like me, then you may be interested in a new product I recently bought from Sephora—an antibacterial make-up brush set. It claims to be formulated with fibers that repel germs (the key bacteria bashing ingredient: Polyhexamethylene Biguanide), but they don’t have a hospital feel to them. They are just as soft as traditional make-up brushes and the anti-bacterial ingredients don’t interact with your foundation or eye shadow. The set comes with 4 brushes, an eyebrow comb and a mini-bottle of brush shampoo—-just in case.
