Fashion Watch: Michelle Obama

What will Michelle Obama wear on Inauguration Day?

It’s the $64,000 question… and the answer probably costs three times that amount.

Tomorrow all eyes will be on Washington, D.C. as Barack Obama makes history during his installation as this country’s first African-American president. But, once the swearing-in festivities wrap up, the focus will be on the president’s wife Michelle Obama and what she will wear to the various Inauguration balls the first couple is scheduled to attend.

According to fashion experts, not since Jacqueline Kennedy has a future first lady’s every look been documented and dissected. Various fashion magazines have spent the past few weeks reviewing Michelle Obama’s looks/dresses that she wore at the Democratic Convention and speculating about what she will don tomorrow night.

Most fashion experts believe she will go with her favorite designer, Maria Pinto from Chicago, but no one knows for sure yet what Michelle Obama will wear. In fact, some celebrity stylists have recommended that the future first lady bypass Pinto for a bigger name.

“What she steps out in, people are waiting for with baited breath,” noted one stylist to the stars. “She has to get it right — and it can’t be some down home designer from Chicago.”

While no one knows the exact design Michelle Obama will be sporting, most fashion experts agree that the model-like first mom will likely choose something with very rich jewel tones (which she wears frequently): turquoise, bright coral, red, purple, etc.

Others in the fashion world are speculating that fit future first lady will go in a different direction by wearing something white or crystal beaded. Most of the sketches submitted to popular fashion publications by wannabe Inauguration ball gown designers featured either a slim silhouette or a full skirt. Given that Michelle Obama is tall and has great posture, fashion experts say she has the ability to pull off just about any design.

Who do you think Michelle Obama will be wearing tomorrow night?
