Fashionable Eco-Friendly Holiday Gift Ideas

I provided some green gift ideas in a previous blog, but if you are a savvy shopper you know I didn’t even scratch the surface. There are so many environmentally friendly gift options out there… and you don’t have to be a self-professed tree hugger to appreciate them.

Take a look:

Denim. Levi’s has an entire eco collection. The popular denim designer has 100 percent organic cotton jeans for men and women. The Levi’s eco collection offers several styles—for ladies the most popular is the Eco Midrise Boot 553 Jean ($78) and for men the most desired pair is the Levi’s Capital E eco wrapped skinny jean ($195).

Kitchen Gadgets. For less than $150 you can take home the GreenPan holiday six-piece set, which utilizes Thermolon non-stick coating which is extremely eco-friendly.

Bedding. The Company Store is offering a stylish Bamboo collection ($24 and up) featuring 300-thread count bedding that’s supposed to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. And the features I like best—the sheets and blankets are machine washable and don’t pill.

Pillows. Magniflex has a GeoEthic Pillow ($180) that is all the rage this season. Unlike other pillows it is not based with petroleum; rather it uses aloe and castor plant oil (vegetable oil), which are renewable resources. Also, the covering is made with marine algae fibers – also renewable.

Candles. Dayna Decker couture candles ($48 and up) are patented with organic EcoWood wicks that burn cleanly and emit a soft crackling sound. The Opoponax scent combines Tuscan roses, violet and sandalwood while the Jacaranda Blossoms scent blends banana leaf, lime and cedar. These candles burn for a minimum of 40 hours.

Batteries. Who doesn’t need batteries during the holiday season? It seems everything these days needs a battery from digital cameras to toys to handheld video games and remote controls. This season consider getting Eneloop batteries ($25), which can be charged 1,000 times before they need to be replaced.

Gift Bags. If you really want to go green this holiday season consider packaging your eco-friendly gifts in organic fabric bags from Lucky Crow ($5-$10). Doing so will help cut down on wasted wrapping paper. Did you know there’s a 25 percent increase in trash during the holiday season from gift-wrapping paper alone?
